Perhaps…

…another word for what if.

Life is an expedition and often presents moments of uncertainty. These moments are characterized by the word "perhaps." Perhaps I can succeed. Perhaps my dreams will come true. Perhaps I can make a difference, or worse yet, perhaps not. These uncertainties can be daunting, leaving us hesitant and paralyzed by caution. But as a person of faith and a seeker of purpose, you have the tools to transform these "perhaps" moments into probabilities. One such tool lies in the timeless wisdom of the Bible, and in particular, the insight from a woman called Ester. Esther 4:14 says,

"Who knows, perhaps you have come to your royal position for such a time as this."

Mordecai spoke these words to Queen Esther during a time of great uncertainty for the Jewish people. Esther faced a decision that could shape the destiny of her people. She was called to step out of her comfort zone, embrace the unknown, and turn a "perhaps" into a divine probability.

Just like Esther, we, too, can find inspiration and guidance from Mordecai's words. Here are a few ways we can convert a "perhaps" into a probability:

1. Embrace Your Unique Purpose: Just as Esther was in a specific position "for such a time as this," each of us has a unique purpose and calling. Instead of seeing uncertainty as a hindrance, consider it an opportunity to step into your purpose. Be confident that you are where you are for a reason, and your actions can significantly impact those closest to you and, eventually, the world around you.

2. Trust in Divine Timing: Uncertain situations often lead us to question timing. We wonder if now is the right time to take action. Esther's story reminds us that sometimes the moment we are in is precisely the right time. Trusting in divine timing means acknowledging that the present moment holds the potential for transformation and positive change. Now is often the best possible time for making a difference tomorrow.

3. Take Courageous Steps: Converting a "perhaps" into a probability requires courage. Esther faced potential danger but summoned the courage to approach the king and advocate for her people. Similarly, we must take bold steps toward our goals, even when the path seems uncertain.

Bold steps are often required to shorten the distance between how things are and how they can be.

4. Seek Guidance: Esther didn't face her challenges alone. She sought guidance from Mordecai and relied on her faith. In our own lives, seeking advice from mentors, friends, and spiritual leaders can provide valuable insights and perspectives to help us navigate uncertain situations.

5. Lean on Faith: Our faith should be a cornerstone of our identity. Biblical faith, by definition, is a belief and trust in God based on evidence but without total proof. Having faith in God's plan, God's grace, and our giftings can provide the grit we need to move from uncertainty to certainty. Just as Esther's faith propelled her into action, our faith can empower us to transform a simple "perhaps" into a potent probability.

In the adventure of life, we will encounter countless "perhaps" moments. These critical moments shouldn't hold us back but, instead, like an aroused elastic band, launch us forward. By embracing our purpose, trusting in divine timing, taking courageous steps, seeking guidance, and leaning on our faith, we can navigate uncertainty with confidence. Just perhaps, we can transform the unknown into a beautiful, unfolding probability that promises a better future for ourselves and the world.

Esther's story exemplifies a massive "what if"? It teaches us that our existence is not by chance. We are here for a reason, for such a time as this.

Embrace the challenges, step out in faith, and convert your "perhaps" into a powerful probability!

What if your choice triggers others to do the same?

Perhaps? No. Probably!
