What to do with giants. btw-you can't hide them

I was in deep meditation from my lofty perch. I felt like a god, towering above everything and everyone. Looking back on it now, it’s the first time I recall feeling invincible!

The “god” status was short lived. Tumbling down head first, along with my childish pride, I landed flat on my back. I was unconscious.

To an adult, a playground slide isn’t very tall but to a third grader, it’s a giant. So, to me, it was as if I had just fallen from the pinnacle of Mount Everest.

That third grade slide became my giant. In fact for the next few years anything with height became my giant. The ultimate conquer of my fear of heights was the day I received my pilots license.

Everyone has a giant to face. It could be as small as a pill or as big as a blackjack table; As small as losing five pounds or as big as three dress sizes; As small as talking to a friend or as big as a crowd; As small as a bottle or as big as a football stadium; As small as an insecurity or as big as an ego; as small as a thumbnail or as big as pornography; as small as a negative thought or as big as a destructive temper. The giant you face could be any number of things!

The whole world knows the bible story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17). David was the youngest son of an average man, with a homemade slingshot and some common rocks from a nearby creek bed…. who put ordinary faith in an extraordinary God and killed his giant.

David was quick to:

-Acknowledge that he had a giant,

-Get “overhead” help,

-Run toward his giant.

The strategy hasn’t changed since that fateful day in the valley of Elah. You can win over your towering foe! It all starts with faith.

The size of your FOE doesn’t activate God on your behalf but the size of your FAITH does!

Matt 17: 20 NLT “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

The mountain/giant doesn’t dictate the faith, the mustard seed does. It’s amazing! A little internal belief can produce a lot of external results.

Our life is a museum of history. In it, are giants! We decide to be a curator or a casualty. A curator is a person who selects content for presentation. A casualty is, well, you know what that is, because you’ve seen plenty of them.

As the curator of your life, you decide what to do with the good, bad and ugly. Some things you can make into giants, others you can swat away like a gnat. Interestingly enough, there’s only one letter different between giant and gnat, “I”. “I” can make all the difference in the world!

I can make a decision to become one of three things:

Villain- creates giants for themselves and others.

Victim- hurt by the giants that themselves and others have created.

Victor- overcomes any and every giant in front of them. Because they win, they break a generational curse and help a whole family and tribe become victorious.

A little girl’s family had lost their house in a fire and a major news network was interviewing her.

Network—  “So sorry about the loss of your home”.

Little girl—  “Oh no, we still have our home. We just don’t have a house to put it in”.

WOW! Now, that’s being a curator and putting your giant where he belongs.

The next time you need “giant sized” help, don’t become the villain or the victim. Practice David’s strategy. Be the victor!

When you ask God for a win sometimes he brings you a war. He allows a giant to be placed in your path so you can know the feel of victory!

I hope this has helped you in some way. Please share with your friends that are no doubt facing their own giants.

“I want to serve you inspiration, insight and information that will help make your life more meaningful.”
